In the beginning, as far back as any can remember, there was Absence. It cannot be described, for it was nothing other than what it was. Nothing and everything, there yet not. Then came the biggest of the big bangs.
No physical creature knows just what happened. All we do know is that something caused Absence to crumble and split. It was slowly torn apart into seven unnamed entities, which were then each torn in two, creating fourteen.
These fourteen forces floated through the nothing that surrounded them, lost, each being driven to find its other half. Eventually they did, but not before evolving into forces that the physical creatures can finally define. They became:
Light Dark
Fire Water
Time Memory
Life Death
Earth Air
Lust Love
Ignorance Wisdom
