Life: Energetic, addictive, participatory
         Merciless, over-indulgent, abrupt

Death: Mysterious, laid-back seduction, patient
            Self-absorbed, single-minded, petulant

Life's energy never ceases.  She is go, go, go until she collapses at the end of the day.  People who suffer from low energy or are often tired benefit from her contagious flow of energy and will feel revived in her presence.  However, the energy always ends abruptly.  She can be in the middle of a chore, nearing the end of a book, or even at the beginning of a sentence - and just stop, whether or not others are ready for her to do so.  Her company if often addictive; even those who only tolerate her feel reluctant to let her go in the end.  Every activity there is she joins.  Usually, she is even the one in charge, and does a splendid job.  Her constant stream of energy makes it easy to finish a project in short time, though her efforts are usually divided between many different activities at once.  She is also merciless.  She does not take pity on someone who cannot keep up; if they fall behind they are left behind.  She will not wait for you to catch up.  This may have something to do with her tendencies to over-indulge; in food, in drink, in sex, in pain . . . anything and everything.  If she does it, she does it overboard.

A sense of mystery surrounds Death at all times.  He is seductive, like many of the Cores, but his is a laid-back sensuality.  Women and men are drawn to the seeming carelessness of his seduction.  His every act, thought and word are drawn forth in a leisurely manner.  His store of patience seems endless.  Silence is never uncomfortable for him; many times it is even preferred.  Most likely he will simply sink into his own mind to wander its curving paths.  This tendency speaks of a self-absorption that is not always readily obvious.  Most people are simply tolerated, since solitude is what he values most.  Because other people are not rated highly by him, he tends to be a bit single-minded; if he has made his mind up about something, well, then that's that and you should just agree now.  It will save you so much time.  He also has some rather rude tendencies; ill-timed humor, saying things that shouldn't be said . . . but another's opinion does not phase him.  Tell him you don't like him, he will smile and say "I must be doing something right, then."

. . . but Scotland's depraved
