The fourteen were finally reunited.  But now a new problem had surfaced; Absence, what had previously been the universe, no longer existed.  Its fourteen extensions now had individual, separate, and unique qualities.  They quickly grew restless and, to be perfectly honest, annoyed with each other.  The opposites have never been known to get along.    Wars broke out between them, Ignorance and Wisdom being the only ones not fighting.  Instead, they sat back and decided to create.

It began with Ignorance creating a realm of perfection which we shall call Heaven, though no dead go here.  But Wisdom knew that if something so perfect was to be brought into being, then something equally horrible must also exist.  Can you guess what we're going to call this new realm?  I knew you could!!

And so, Heaven and Hell came into being.  The other twelve stopped to check it out and decided that this would be a much better way to spend their energies.  So they started to create.

Planets, animals and realms were soon scattered throughout the nothing.  Each creature was created and therefore owned by a certain core.  But the cores are too powerful in their astral form and felt disconnected from their children.  They decided they needed to create shells for themselves, to live amongst their creations.

This was how man first came to be.  Understand, I speak of a completely different time than the one we now live in and a completely different planet.  In this first time around, we lived with the mystical creatures of the world.  Magic was, of course, a part of our daily lives.  But, things change.

When they created their shells, seven were male and seven were female so that they could procreate.  Their first children knew they were special, that they had a little something extra in their blood.  Throughout the ages this knowledge began to twist man and make him arrogant.  Humans saw themselves as rulers of the universe.  They began to hunt their Mystic brethren, the only creatures they felt threatened their dominance, chasing them off the planet and into hiding.  Eventually, man killed himself out.

So, the Fourteen tried again.  This time they attempted to live within animals already created to tamper the almost-inevitable tainting.  The problem was that these animals, as mentioned before, all belong to a specific Core.  So for the thirteen Cores who hadn't created whatever beast they were living in, it was simply horrid.  Like an alligator who knows he's an alligator but is trying to live out his life as a horse.  It all makes for a very unhappy alligator.

Eventually, they realized they needed to try creating a new species.  The creatures had the same layout as the original humans but new qualities, as well.  They were weaker, with shorter life spans and a block to their more powerful magickal capabilities.  This was done in the hopes that they wouldn't end up as destructive as before.  The only problem was that these new drawbacks also applied to the shells of the Fourteen.

Despite their precautions, the Fourteen worried about having offspring.  Therefore, they all came as the same gender (female) and denied the new species a method of asexual reproduction.  But, it didn't work.  The Fourteen aren't the most powerful forces out there.

Someone, an entity who resides far above the Fourteen, decided that this new race needed to be on Earth.  Hence, our evolution from apes.  (Evolution was already an aspect of Life, obviously, but the Fourteen themselves did not apply it to the Humans).  The Cores, however, were still determined to protect the world from humans.  So they gathered together the most promising of the humans, stuck them on Atlantis and trained them in the ways of the Fourteen.  The Atlanteans became the priests and priestesses of the Cores.  But the knowledge of the Cores and their history died out along with Atlantis, to be uncovered by a dreamer millions of years later.

Some comments I feel are important:

  1. The Cores are, first and foremost, HUMAN.  They live and die just like everyone else.  They are not born with their powers; because of the block on the human psyche, they are denied their powers until the time comes that they are needed.
  2. Fourteen males, all priests dedicated to a different Core, were the only survivors of Atlantis.  Coincidence?  Uh, no.  They were declared the Vulmerian Sorcerers of the Fourteen.  Their duty has been to protect the knowledge of the Fourteen, for there are some who hunt them.  However, the years have erased almost all knowledge of the Fourteen.  The result is that sometimes the Vulmerian Sorcerers and sometimes even the cores themselves don't realize what they are.
  3. The Cores began as female, but when the Chaos Child comes seven will be male and seven female.  The sex I use in each description is the sex of the individual when the Chaos Child has arrived.
